Senate (Fresh Raw Milk) Bill #201 - Progress Update 1

I just HAD to post a quick update on the progress of Senate Bill #201, “The Fresh Raw Milk Act 2008″

News has just come in that there was a unanimous vote “YES” for SB #201 by the Assembly Health Committee in California !!

Voting Record for Senate Bill #201

We’ve designated a ONE cow graphic per successful stage. That means …… THREE “COWS” and we’re IN. … (yes, I’m counting cows now).

Many of us breathed a sigh of relief as the first crucial hurdle was passed.

This is, however, just Step #1 of a three step legislative process. June 25th sees the Assembly Agriculture Committee exercise their representative powers to vote on the Bill.

Step #3 then culminates some time later with a vote by the entire assembly.

If you are new to this issue please review our previous article as well as further information obtained via the reference links below. This situation is seen by many as a serious challenge to our health freedoms and freedom of choice.

You still have time to have your supportive voice
be heard by those who represent you.

More in-depth background information can be found via the following “Click-able links” of Organic Pastures, as well as the Weston A. Price Foundation.  Much needed financial support is gratefully received by the Farm To Consumer Foundation

Joint Senate Hearings (Ca) – Raw Milk Update

Good News! The April 15th joint senate hearings on the safety of raw milk, were considered a great success for consumers, retailers and producers alike.

It feels like another positive step forward.

California State Capitol Building[The following summary, with comment, is based on a report just posted on the Organic Pastures website].

Fewer raw milk consumers showed up at the hearings than expected (still numbering several hundred though). Even with that, verbal testimonies were received very late into the evening. Proceedings concluded around midnight.

The Irony of the Fight

Of the testimonies mentioned in OPDC’s (Organic Pastures Dairy Company) report of the event, one in particular, caught a painful irony that is faced by raw milk supporters and natural health advocates alike. Read the rest of this entry »

Raw Milk - Legal Ruling Brings Welcome Relief To Supporters

Lady_justice_standingRaw milk supporters have something to smile about. Some very positive, forward ground has recently been gained on the legal front.

News from Sally Fallon, President of the Weston A Price foundation, drew attention to a March 20th press release stating that a temporary restraining order had been granted against the enforcement of AB 1735 (please refer to our December 9th post on AB 1735).

In the light of what antics have been playing out by those charged with the responsibility of safe-guarding public health, this recent ruling by Judge Harry J. Tobias of the San Benito Superior Court in Hollister, California, is certainly a breath of fresh air.

Representing the plaintiffs (Organic Pastures Dairy Company and Claravale Farms) was attorney Gary Cox of the Farm-to-Consumer Legal Defense Fund. He stated that, “The Judge’s ruling is consistent with the evidence and the law of the case,” and that  “…. we had provided evidence that our members would both go out of business should AB 1735 be enforced, and that there was no scientific or reasonable basis for using coliforms as the standard for safety and health. ”

As good a news as this ruling may be, all is not yet over. Further battles still lie ahead.

There is a further hearing on April 25th where both sides will be permitted to submit declarations, affidavits as well as bring forward expert and lay witnesses as live testimony. A ruling is expected by May 25th, 2008.

Reliable sources also report that several concerned legislators have introduced bills to rescind AB 1735 and use a “more reasonable and scientifically based limit” than the current 10 coliform limit.

To find out more about the sterling work carried out by the Farm-to-Consumer Legal Defense Fund and the Farm-to-Consumer Foundation please visit www.farmtoconsumerfoundation.org.

Any offers for direct financial support to these legal efforts please CONTACT: Taaron Meikle, President, The Farm-to-Consumer Legal Defense Fund, (703) 964-7421

Do Thoughts and Beliefs Influence Health and Disease?

Nucleosome structureA new light is dawning in the understanding of our physical makeup and what controls and alters the “readout” of our physical form.

“They told me that there was nothing that I could do about it….. that it was in my genes.”  ….. Is this still the current, popular line of thought?

Is our fate REALLY so securely tied to what was handed down to us through our genetic blueprint?

Recent understandings through EPI-genetics
point to disease as being optional and not
pre-determined by genetics alone.

The genome is likened to the hardware of a computer, whereas the epigenome is likened to the software that tells the computer what to do.  It’s the “On/Off” mechanism for the functioning of the gene.

How does it work?
Do we, as individuals have any conscious control
over this switching mechanism?

In the following video Bruce H. Lipton PhD. asserts that it is your mind and your beliefs, not defective genes, that influences the activation of disease cells. This influence extends even to the thoughts of those around us. Read the rest of this entry »

Raw Milk - Raw Deal For Supporters?

To add to my earlier post RAW MILK DEBATE - Safety, Health, Economic, Legal (where I have included links to down-loadable documents related to the key scientific points related to the raw milk issue). Here are a few notable links to videos that I wanted to bring to your attention.

The Issue: Raw Milk in California has had a perfect safety record yet new laws are in place (AB 1735) to eliminate raw milk sales in California.

How and why does that affect you?

The key point in all of this is your right to choose.

As one written response to the following video stated ….. “WOW!!! I had no idea raw milk was so bad for us. If it’s being banned before alcohol and tobacco, then it must really be horrible… or am I missing something here. …….Is my unpasteurized, fresh squeezed orange juice next?”

American television and motion picture actor Dan Wells had this to say to the Governor of California.

Even though the following clip taken from an interview with Mark McAfee, (Organic Pastures Dairy) was recorded in Feb’07, his passion and his commitment comes through loud and clear. Read the rest of this entry »
